Oh, I got the answer of the question I asked in the other post.

It is nice to know you are familiar with my place and our people. I’ve never been to Antique. That’s the part of Panay Island I haven’t visited.

One of these days I will post some of my poems in Pilipino.

I hope you could recover your poems. I always consider mine my treasure, I can’t imagine losing them - it would be like losing my heart.

i had compiled two anthologies of Tagalog poetry before. but sadly, my computer crashed down. and the only hard copies I had are with a friend, who is in Manila and I have to find him when I get back home, come December.

writing in Tagalog is like digging deep from a soul with more passion and truer to the grit emotion.

i used to spend my many summers in the beaches of Antique, because it is my mother’s hometown province. I know Panay Island so well, because I use to travel from Kalibo to Culasi, from Culasi to San Jose de Buenavista. From San Jose de Buenavista to Iloilo City, from Iloilo City to Passi City, from Passi City to Roxas City. From Roxas City back to Kalibo.

so i know how it was to be a writer emerging from the Panay Island. Such as you are. Ilonggos are known to be great romanticist. In Antique and Aklan, I have met many of amateur poets of my generation, I am so amazed how their imageries were so rich and full. And simply, they have their unique way with words.

I started to love poetry in our language - “tula.” It is a shame that I seldom write in tagalog now, I feel like I can’t compose a decent tagalog piece. But in my heart I know I’m a Filipino. This maybe comes from the fact that tagalog is not really my first language - I’m an ilonggo.

I have a few pieces written in Pilipino, but I opted to keep them in my journals.

I like this piece for its quietude, words are tenderly put together like a whisper and it speaks to the heartm where poems are meant to come home.
